The U.S. Census Bureau has redefined a number of census tract boundaries throughout Rhode Island.  Changes may have been requested by the community or necessitated by federal law governing population and housing thresholds.  These adjustments represent changes made to 1990 census tracts in the creation of 2000 census tracts.    CT = Census Tract
Providence
    C.T. 1 has been divided along Eddy Street to create C.T. 1.01 and C.T. 1.02,  C.T. 2 has ceded the area southeast of Rte. 95 to newly created C.T. 1.02,   C.T. 5 ceded the area east of Eddy Street to C.T. 6,   C.T. 7 ceded the area east of Plain Street and Rte. 95 to C.T. 6,  C.T. 17 ceded the area west of Plainfield Street at Neutaconkanut Park to C.T. 18,  C.T. 21 ceded the area east of Imera Street from Almira Street, Unit Street, Chaulkstone Avenue and Samoset Avenue to C.T. 20,  C.T. 22 ceded the area southeast of Valley Street to C.T. 25,   C.T. 30 has been ceded in its entirety to abutting census tracts.  The area west of the RR tracts to Branch Avenue to Rte. 95 has been ceded to C.T. 29.  The area east of the RR tracts and Branch Avenue has been ceded to C.T. 33.  The area east of Rte. 95 has been ceded to C.T. 31,   C.T. 35 has ceded the area west of Gano Street from Angell Street to Pitman Street, to newly created C.T. 36.01,  C.T. 36 has been divided along Thayer Street to create C.T. 36.01 and C.T. 36.02
